D’art Gallery proudly presents “Over Under Inside Out.” Explore the variety of expression from Deborah Carlson, James-Allan Holmes, and Carrie MaKenna. Three local artists share their work that has depth, layers, and texture beyond the surface. These works take viewers on dimensional journeys through time, space and meaning.

CARRIE MAKENNA:

This exhibition didn’t happen on purpose.

I had picked up these wood boxes over 15 years ago with the idea of doing some assemblage artwork in them. I also started collecting all kinds of objects to use in the assemblage so I have two full shelves of clear boxes plus things in every nook and cranny.

In January I said to myself, now’s the time. I pulled out the boxes and started considering what I would do with them. At the same time I was on FB Marketplace buying and selling household goods when I saw the ad: Bag of Barbie bodies no heads.
