Opening Reception: Friday, January 16th, 6-9pm
Resonance: the stirring of emotion, memory, and meaning—the "unseen echo" that lingers after an encounter with a subject.
Rita Bhasin’s artwork is shaped by a life lived across cultures. Born in Kenya, of Indian heritage, and now firmly rooted in Colorado, she brings a deep appreciation for local landscapes, diverse traditions, and beliefs into her creative process.
The Southwestern landscape is her muse: her use of colors, shapes, and textures brings energy and clarity to her paintings, inviting us to explore our own interpretations. This sense of mystery and love of shape is imbued in both her landscape and still-life paintings. Her emphasis on dialogue with her collectors enriches this experience, fostering a shared connection.
Photography allows Lynda Tygart to experience the world's vastness in a more intimate way. As she works to capture the distinct “personality” of a subject, losing track of time is not uncommon. Her images often reflect a quiet passion for places that feel deserted and mystical.
Lynda has long appreciated traditional darkroom techniques that foster a hands-on relationship with each photograph, while also embracing the immediate feedback and flexibility of digital photography. Her original artwork emerges from a fusion of photography and painting: photographs are printed on watercolor paper and wood panels, then hand-painted to emphasize select features and textures. This layered process results in work with an ethereal presence, reminiscent of the pictorialist tradition. Each piece is entirely unique, shaped by both intention and touch.
The angels in Lynda’s collection offer quiet reflection as to what it means to be human. These angels do not speak loudly. They wait. They resonate. Which ones will resonate with you?
