Nijole Rasmussen’s creativity is profoundly influenced by the idea that Nature is the mother of all cycles. All forms on an empty canvas become a circle, a flow, a diagonal line. Rasmussen finds her North through the beauty of opposites and polarizations that create a whole. She still believes that the whole resides in the part. Duality is speaking loudly and clearly during her process of creation. Rasmussen states: “Color proclaims of infinite things - sky, soil, ocean, stone and sun, and moon.

Form whispers the limitations of my being and visually stimulates the cognitive side of my soul.  Art is the messenger of our changing seasons, and as cycles are circular and our earth is round, so our beginnings and ends come full circle too. Within my canvas, the circles don’t quite meet. What seems to be the end, is only the beginning of something new—to be discovered by the painter and hopefully by the viewer.”
