Layers of Light and Life is a mixed media show by Pamela Gilmore Hake and Patricia Rucker. Both artists have experienced much in life with light in their souls. Their work is the exciting product of many layers of living and expressing it through their art.

Pamela works abstractly using various tools to create free marks coming from the unconscious soul. These marks create a framework for her to start weaving her vision. It is with these marks that the real conversation with her soul starts, as layers of paint and marks become visual freedom of her “inner self”.

Macular Degeneration continues to challenge Patricia Rucker, forcing her to see her work differently. Her paintings reflect a personal visual language. This visual language is affected by her experience of being able to see, of not being able to see clearly, what it is like to see in the dark, and trying to see with light so bright that everything becomes a blur. As an abstract artist this brings new vision, new light, and new life to her work.

Layers of Light and Life is a visual invitation for the viewer to become a part of Pamela and Patricia’s journey of making art.
