Denver Visual Artists & Their Legacy Part III

Stevon Lucero has been painting for over forty years. Since childhood, he has experienced lucid dreams and visions and ventured more than once into separate realities. Through these revelations and studies of metaphysical, philosophical, and historical media, he has been guided to create two unique art forms: Metarealism and Neo-Precolumbian or Aztec art. Stevon is on a spiritual journey that is ever evolving. Each of his pieces tell a story in which the ultimate intent and value lies in the future, where people will have a greater understanding and appreciation for true spiritual art.

Alicia Cardenas, Native Mexican American painter from Denver, Co who takes inspiration from tribal culture, the earth and its mathematics and her kid Xochitl Mayahuel. She identifies as Chicanative. Alicia has owned a tattoo and piercing studio in Denver for the last 26 years called Sol Tribe where she tattoos full time. She has recently begun to take on larger scale projects under the name Tribal Murals to feed her appetite to color the world with ancient designs. You can find her tattoo work @soltribemama or painting works at @tribalmurals.

Judy Miranda, in September 2017 she had a retrospective at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles, California. She has displayed at many galleries including the Prado Museum in Spain, Casa de Las Americas, Havana Cuba, Bella de Artes, Mexico City and other international galleries as well as local. The most recent exhibition was at the Hunter Gallery in New York in June 2018. Her professional artistic career has expanded more than 40 years. "Chac Gallery has been my home gallery for 29 years. I have been a member since the early gallery days. Wherever Chac moved I followed. The various artists in the gallery have had a large influence on my work and have welcomed my different artistic styles throughout the years. My work has a wide range of artistic materials and mediums. I am not only a photographer but also a painter and a Santera (wood carver)." Judy arrived in Colorado in 1988 after teaching in Long Beach State University and other California colleges after receiving a commision in Colorado. She has been a major influence in the Denver art community.
