Alternative Printmaking with Victoria Eubanks

  • Prism Arts Workshop 999 Vallejo Street Denver, CO, 80204 United States (map)

Printmaking is defined as transferring an image from one surface onto another. In this energetic two-day workshop, we will explore that transfer process in very loose and experimental ways, using simple material and techniques that yield surprising results.

Participants will develop and make their own set of tools: stamps, carved blocks, stencils, etc. We will also use found objects, including botanicals, to print with. The idea is to cross-pollinate the various printing techniques — the rubber block you carved can be also used as a stamp with a gel plate, the gel print you made might be the background for a collagraphic print, etc.

Participants will build their personal vocabulary of shape, texture and color. We will print with non-toxic water based paint on a variety of papers, each print informing the next. Take home a stack o’ prints! No experience necessary, all materials provided, come and be part of this creative experimentation. Material fee included in class price.
