Artists Beverly Thomas and Donna Lovely grew up in the same area of New England—hiking similar wooded trails, paddling many of the same rivers and waterways, and sharing the same quirky accent—so they had an instant connection when they eventually met at Artists on Santa Fe Gallery in Denver. Their paintings are featured together in “Echoes of Nature, a visual dialogue,” on view Oct 2 – Oct 27, 2024, at 747 Santa Fe Drive highlighting their individual experience and appreciation of the outdoors using different mediums.

The artists have a shared love of nature but are drawn to representing different facets of the outdoors in their artwork. Thomas uses oils to paint the beautiful shapes and colors of the mountains and vistas. Her vibrant colors and solid shapes fit together like a puzzle portraying the majesty and solidity of the rocks and hills. Lovely connects more with rivers, bogs and gardens which she renders in watercolor paint. Her watercolors are flowing and filled with lively, rhythmic brushstrokes that express a vitality of life and a spirit of playfulness.

Artists on Santa Fe Gallery at 747 Santa Fe Drive showcases the work of member artists ranging from sculptors and painters to printmakers and jewelers. Regular hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 11 am to 3 pm, Fridays and Saturdays, 11 am to 5 pm and Sundays, Noon to 4 pm, The building is also home to the working studios of 25 + artists.
