Michael Warren Contemporary (MWC) is pleased to present “Process: recent work by Kris Cox”, an exhibit of new paintings and sculpture by Kris Cox. There will be a concurrent exhibit by Jody Guralnick. Please join us for the opening reception with the artists on Thursday, July 6th, 5-8pm.
The conceptual basis of Kris Cox’ work references time and memory building layer upon layer to create rich surfaces textured with collected and found objects, digital information, repetitively made marks built up on wood panels embedded with pigmented wood putty, beeswax, and even cast lead.
Kris Cox is a nationally recognized artist who resides in the Carbondale, CO. Kris first studied ceramics under his mentor, Paul Soldner at Claremont McKenna College in the early 1970’s and apprenticed under Soldner, as part of a group of artists who build out the ceramics department at Anderson Ranch, before going on to earn his MFA at RISD.
