SYNC Gallery presents The Road Together by Pamela Gilmore Hake & Ulla Meyer
The Road Together is an artistic journey shared by two friends. They explore their individual expressions to bring them together in an exciting exhibition. The Road Together is also about the informed history of artists through time.
The need to create in Pamela Hake’s time and place on earth gives her purpose in presenting this body of work. Pamela’s work is about mark making to create a visual language. She works abstractly using various tools to create the marks and then weaves her vision using layer upon layer of paint and more marks. The marks start the dance between the head, heart, and hand. It is this intuitive impulse that leads to the direction of gesture, color, line, shape, and form. The outcome is a visual in-depth conversation with the viewer.
While in the process of creating is a personal journey, the finished painting becomes a new connection to both the artist and the audience. The painting is an invitation to dance in a new ballroom.
The Road Together is a well chosen title for Ulla Meyer. It is a chance to show her new works with her friend Pamela Hake. They have different painting styles and different reasons for painting, but they have come together in one creative endeavor.
Ulla’s work has strong connections to music and dance. Both have always given her reason to express movement on the canvas. She also uses strong texture that is inspired by the textures she observes while on walks and hikes in nature. Following the texture, come the glazing layers that add depth and character to the paintings. Each of these works show Ulla’s life energy and memories of her heart.
This exhibition runs September 15 through October 16, 2022
