Victoria Kwasinski works with multiple layers of oil and cold wax that are scraped through to previous layers, allowing unexpected and visual textures and color to surface. James Garnett's work involves starting with simple forms and making them more intriguing by using unexpected sizes and shapes, enhancing them with glazes and Raku firing.
Both artists work from a zen energy with the intention of being totally present with the subject while trusting a space of “not knowing” the outcome. This energy creates a space that invites the unpredictable to surface and encourages the artists to stay in a persistence of wonder, allowing the art to create itself.
We have reopened three floors of studio spaces so feel free to explore beyond the Gallery. Start this month with a fun and intriguing art treat!
