SYNC Gallery Presents Reflections by Phyllis Rider & Dwight Rider

Phyllis Rider’s artwork in Reflections is about exploring a variety of materials, including paper, fiber, metal, plexiglass, and found objects. Her painted steel sculptural works reflect wonderful color combinations but are also reflections on different times, cultures or places. Phyllis' solar relief etching monotypes, called "I want to go home" deal with past memories of Covid-19 times and the appeal of being safe at home.

Phyllis collaborated with her son Dwight to create some plexiglass patterned reflecting wall pieces that incorporate ancient symbols in a creative way of exploring new and old ideas in one dynamic artwork.

Dwight Rider sees his work as a continuation of Japonisme. Japonisme is a French term that refers to the popularity and influence of Japanese art and design among a number of Western European artists in the nineteen century. His collaboration with his mother Phyllis Rider is an example of them combining their interests and ideas about Japanese geometric art while using modern manufacturing processes. Dwight Rider is currently a student in the Industrial design program at MSU Denver.
