The Mix Co-op is back for its annual group show at Niza Knoll Gallery! This year, four artists at a time will expand their presence from the back of the gallery into the front of house to showcase their latest works. The first exhibit runs September 8–October 15, 2022, with Nancy Enyart, Aliki McCain, Pat Lickly and Mark Stokesbury, featuring hand-built clay, paintings, mixed media, and hand-colored prints. Whether exploring new materials or honing their existing craft, the distinct styles of these artists endure and are sure to charm viewers.
The public is invited to view and purchase work during regular business hours at 915 Santa Fe Drive, Thursday-Sundays, 1-4 pm during the run of the show and during the following special events:
Artists Reception: Friday, September 16, 5-8 pm
Sundays on Santa Fe Art Walk: Sunday, September 25, 12-3 pm
First Friday Art Walk: Friday, October 7, 4-9 pm
During the first years of the pandemic, Nancy Enyart focused her creative energy on depicting human reactions to the stress of living through a fearful time. She eventually returned to her wild world of animals that, while threatened, they persist. The birds continue to pass above us and look down on whatever is happening below.
Mark Stokesbury will be showing a combination of new and old work in both 2D and 3D. The 2D work on display is a combination of mixed media work, and hand-colored prints. The ceramics are his hand-built vessel constructions that he has not previously displayed to the public.
While Pat Lickly’s focus over the years has been primarily in ceramics, for this show she has incorporated a mix of ceramic, natural stone, fossils, and handmade paper creating a new textural dimension to her work.
This body of work by Aliki McCain came to a life on their own, working through the artist as a conduit. After the isolation of the pandemic, she returned to her creative roots and to mother nature as a consistent source of inspiration to refuel her soul. Some artists choose to express the pain of isolation, but McCain responded with what came to her in “flow” state or a continuous stream of artistic movement, her preferred state of mind while painting. The remainder of The Mix artists will exhibit their work from October 20 - December 3, 2022, with details forthcoming.
