From 1 - 3 pm D’art Gallery Artist Lisa Calzavara will be at the gallery to answer questions about the art and painting techniques at her solo exhibition in Gallery East, “Reconnecting”. Lisa created the work for the exhibition in response to the many challenges everyone has experienced in 2020. The contemporary abstracts Lisa designed are a narrative of the emotional rollercoaster everyone has endured.

The artwork ranges from surrealism to extreme abstraction with high contrasts of colors echoing the strange and volatile times. The focus of each piece is an expression of how individuals connect with others even in times of isolation. Each painting can be interpreted differently based on an individual’s experiences. Sharing those experiences with others helps in understanding and reconnecting to the world.

From 2 - 3 pm, Maureen Ruddy Burkhart, juror for the group exhibition “Photography: Your Vision”, will be in the Main Gallery to meet with photographers in the show and to share her experience of how one juries an exhibition. The exhibition features 49 works by 36 artists from 15 States demonstrating innovative approaches to creating photographic prints through various processes: cyanotypes, archival inkjet, pigment, macro, digital, pinhole and silver gelatin, among other alternative photographic processes.

Maureen wrote in her Juror’s Statement: “It was with a sense of privilege and humility that I was tasked with curating only 50 works from hundreds of submissions. This challenge was made even greater by the breadth of talented artists, all of whom had their own clear vision. I have a great appreciation for all manner of photography and in the end, I chose photographs that spoke to my intuitive self. My hope is that this exhibition will be a cornucopia of visions that will inspire everyone who has a chance to see it at the D’art Gallery.”
