The story, set in coastal North Carolina immerses the reader into a lush and lively landscape. The artwork created for this show gives life to this marshy environment and its inhabitants while also showcasing the inner life of the main character Kya who raises herself after being abandoned by her family.
Viewers will be absorbed back into the narrative through paintings, ceramics and delightful Papier-mâché creatures featured prominently throughout the gallery.
"Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps." (Overview from barnesandnoble.com)
