Niza Knoll and her gallery at 915 Santa Fe Drive in Denver, has long been an ardent supporter of the programs offered by the inclusive nonprofit organization, Access Gallery located next door at 909 Santa Fe. Its mission is to open doors to creative, educational and economic opportunities for people with disabilities to access, experience and benefit from the arts. With a previous career as an art teacher, Knoll has been well-qualified to volunteer over the years as an instructor, mentor and collaborator to the artists in their program.
As the pandemic hit in March of 2020, Access was forced to seek other ways to engage their participants and like many, turned to online teaching via the Zoom video meeting platform. Through the coordination of Associate Director, Cris Ciani, Niza and other local working artists —Jordan Bobrick, Kelly Craighead, Jake Fairly, Javier Flores, Niza Knoll and Amy Siegel—were able to instruct and interact with Access Gallery artists throughout the year, mostly on Zoom with a few attempts in garden settings and indoors with masks and distancing.
