The Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC) and partners (Metro State University Chicano/a/x Studies and Journey Through Our Heritage and Colorado Folk Arts Council), invites you to an interactive Ballet Folklorico morning! This event is free and open to the public. Join us as Jeanette enlightens us on the rich and diverse tradition of ballet folklorico. Along with a dance demonstration, participants will learn the origins of ballet folklorico and types of dances. Jeanette Trujillo is the Founder and Director of Fiesta Colorado Dance Company. She is an award winning dance maestra and a Colorado icon for the past 40 years. Thousands of ballet folklorico dancers have been influenced by Jeanette throughout the Southwest. Fiesta Colorado Dance Company’s mission is to educate, support, preserve and showcase the cultural traditions of Mexican and Spanish dance through educational programs and professional performances.
