Horizon's Harmonies: New Work by Charles Parson

  • Mai Wyn Fine Art 744 Santa Fe Drive Denver, CO, 80204 United States (map)

Mai Wyn Fine Art presents Horizon’s Harmonies, a solo exhibition by renowned artist Charles Parson. The intimate gallery setting will feature a selection of new dimensional drawings and sculpture by the prolific Denver artist. Meet Charles Parson at the Opening Reception, Friday, March 15 from 6-8 p.m. which coincides with 3rd Friday Collectors’ Preview in the Art District on Santa Fe. Horizon’s Harmonies continues through April 13, 2019.

For the last forty years Charles Parson’s work has kept focus on the horizon. Known for his monumental sculpture and outdoor installations comprised of heavy steel i-beams, thick glass, hardware and wire, Parson takes a step aside to focus on more intimate works inspired by his daily drawing practice and love of the American West. Still utilizing strong horizontal lines, minimal color and industrial hardware, Parson’s new “dimensional drawings” incorporate finely drafted mountain vistas and cloud laden horizons adding a sense of time and place to the work. An accompaniment of new, garden-size sculptures are also included in the exhibition.

Charles Parson has over 80 solo exhibitions under his belt along with extensive participation in group shows, large-scale installations, and monumental public sculptures throughout the United States. He’s written two books and has been reviewed and featured in numerous local, regional and national newspapers, magazines, books, radio and television. After retiring from full-time teaching last year, Parson hasn’t lost a step maintaining a Resource Artist position and studio at Redline in Denver. Most recently Charles shared the spotlight with his two artist sons Collin Parson and Devon Parson in a two-pronged exhibition entitled Three Views on view now through the end of March at Lakewood Cultural Center in Lakewood, CO and Durango Art Center in Durango, CO.
