The Art of Architecture
January 5 - First Friday Reception
January 19 – Meet the Artists Reception
February 2 – First Friday Reception
With another new year unfolding, thoughts turn to grand plans, big ideas, and changes ahead. Here at Access Gallery we are no different.
We like to think big. What if we had an opportunity to rethink our home? Part of our magic is the community fostered by creating a safe, welcoming environment. Many of our artists come from challenging circumstances and see Access Gallery as their home away from home. So we imagined a physical community built around our artists– a place to create, sell, and live. We believe in the power of well-designed space to truly make the world better, so we asked: What could a fully integrated and inclusive Access Gallery look like?
CU Denver College of Architecture and Planning students came to our home, met our artists, and asked what a perfect Access Gallery might look like. The resulting designs create a wonderfully inclusive and inspired home for us. This show presents the full concepts from initial ideas to working models, highlighting the artistic nature behind the work.
Denver Architectural Foundation facilitated the project with an innovative partnership grant from the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District - SCFD.
The image was created by University of Colorado Denver student, Luis Navarrete. He listened to our artists’ interest in dragons and used that as a core concept.
