The new year marks 15 years since the opening of Niza Knoll Gallery at 915 Santa Fe Drive and they are excited to host a new exhibition and party in celebration! Gallerist Niza Knoll invited back a selection of artists who have exhibited over the years, including Peter Durst, Rick Dallago, Jerry De La Cruz, Bonnie Ferrill Roman, Howard Harris, Deborah Jang, Tyree Jones-Evans, Niza Knoll, Mike Keene, Charles Luna, Gayla Lemke, Leona Lazar, Topher Straus and Carol Warzel. The show offers a striking blend of styles and mediums in both 2D and 3D.
After an extended holiday break, they will reopen on January 3, 5-9 p.m. for the First Friday Artwalk. The public is also invited to the Anniversary Celebration on Jan. 17, 5-8 p.m., featuring music and song by Amanda and Keny of Quillion. The show will be on view through Feb 23, 2025.
Niza Knoll Gallery curates themed invitational and juried exhibits that explore a variety of styles, issues and ideas. Sometimes shows are simply based on the delight of a subject manner. It aims to offer a friendly, accessible experience in a space that transforms with each new show.
Their 10th Anniversary celebration was in February 2020, shortly before the COVID-19 lockdown. After weathering the uncertainty of that time, they went on to curate some notable exhibitions, including “Holy Moly 2020,” a juried show in response to the pandemic and other newsworthy events, two shows highlighting artists aged 70 plus and 80 plus, a delightful exhibition focused on elephants, and a showcase of remarkable ceramic art. Additionally, they boldly opened a discussion about the implications of AI in the art world through both an invitational exhibit and a juried show.
In the back of the space, The MIX, a small, nontraditional artist cooperative was launched as an integral part of the gallery and has featured a rotating selection of eight artists, some of who have been members the entire 15 years. The current line-up is Victoria Eubanks, Nancy Enyart, Mark Friday, Pat Lickly, Aliki McCain, Kristy Melodia and Paula Romero Schmitt. They are currently seeking a new member to replace Tyree Jones-Evans who is embarking on a residency at Redline and will be creating larger works than will fit in the co-op. Interested artists can find more information on the gallery website.
