Member Artist Shows at D'art Gallery

  • D'art Gallery 900 Santa Fe Drive Denver, CO, 80204 United States (map)

D’art Gallery is proud to host three semi-solo shows of gallery members from September 26 through October 20, 2024.

Robin Faye Gates: Scholars and Misfits; James-Allan Holmes: The Center Must Hold; Tom Riedel: Full Circle will be on exhibit in our main gallery.

Robin Faye Gates “Scholars and Misfits”

Robin creates whimsical art using acrylics and oils on various surfaces, including wood panels, canvas, furniture, instruments, and other three-dimensional objects. Her exhibition, titled “Scholars and Misfits,” features imaginative characters crafted from layers of paint, paper, charcoal, and pencil, which she applies and removes repeatedly to develop rich color and texture. These characters interact with urban textures and industrial shapes, bringing a unique blend to her work.

James-Allan Homes “The Center Must Hold”

James-Allan Holmes is a visual artist based in Denver, Colorado who creates brilliant abstract paintings using bold colors and rich textures to translate his inner life through a unique visual language. Holmes painting practice celebrates the unique nature in each of us in moments of self- discovery as we embrace an awareness that the lessons learned along our lifepath exists to help us grow. His work informs our sacred nature as an authentic expression of our humanity. James-Allan Holmes presents an entirely new body of work unlike anything he has previously presented. Taking creative risks by reinterpreting a 104-year-old poem which could have been written for our times. The exhibition title is derived from the W.B. Yeats poem The Second Coming. “I believe in the power of light, the organizing power of the Universe, and the presence of hope.”

Tom Riedel “Full Circle”

The exhibition title “Full Circle” acknowledges one of the basic geometric elements that constitute Tom Riedel’s abstract constructions, even though those hand-cut geometric shapes are more likely interrupted or truncated than fully expressed. At the same time, the title refers to Tom’s circuitous art journey; between this show and his last semi-solo show of abstract, geometric work 40 years ago, he completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees in art history and a master’s in library science, as well as a 25-year career as an academic librarian. The metaphorical full circle has led back to more literal circles, ovals, squares, and other geometric shapes.

The opening reception for this exhibition is Friday September 27, 6-9pm
