SYNC Gallery Presents New Works, by Sandy Marvin & Helene Strebel
Sandy Marvin’s paintings and drawings reflect her appreciation for the visual world, both grand and close up. She seeks to communicate the mood of a time and place: the patterns of light and shadow, gestures of branches and dignity of individual trees.
Landscapes capture the broader view, its special flavor and light. Still lifes look closer at the smaller particularities of a thing or being - the lines, shapes, sparks of light and color that create visual poetry. Marvin's paintings and drawings are made using combinations of soft pastel, watercolor and pencil on sanded archival paper.
Helene Strebel's paintings are personal expressions of her lifelong fascination with visual effects and colors. She lets herself go with applying colors and forms on the canvas. She creates acrylic paintings with textures and vibrant colors to express the pleasure of being seen, and finding a connection between the medium, the subject and the moment. Each painting is part of ongoing work. Art should be timeless.
Strebel's abstract work has been featured in Gallery Exhibitions and Art Shows and can be found in private collections in the US and in Europe. Her artwork has been recently featured at the Florence Biennale, Italy.
