Years ago, when Jon was but a wee lad, he looked to the skies and wondered “whither cometh the origin of the wind?” or something like that. Jumping forward decades to when he was bored with painting, Jon grabbed his pliers, torch, copper scraps, and wire, to begin sculpting kinetic mobiles. At last, the wind revealed itself. No, he's not going to tell you the secret.

When people look at his mobiles, their first comment usually is “Have you ever heard of that guy, you know, what's his name - Calder?” Their second comment is “Ooooh, I love the way they move, they're so whimsical and fun. Can I have one?”

Jump forward another decade, and Jon, being bored with catching the wind, once again picked up his paint brush to resume painting, but this time, it was to be brash and loud, with thick layers of paint, outrageous colors, bodacious shapes. When people view his paintings, they often remark, “What's wrong with him? He must have some good drugs.” Then they comment “My, what vibrant colors, strong shapes and lines. Can I have one?”

So now he has a chance to show them together: mobiles above - paintings below.

In addition to “Above : Below”, other fine art will be displayed in the gallery by resident artists, including paintings, ceramics, jewelry, mixed media and sculpture.

The exhibition “Above : Below” will run March 1 thru April 2, 2023
