Michael Warren Contemporary is excited to present The Deconstructed, new photography by Richard Eisen.
Eisen looks to the garden to find a plethora of flora that he ponders over and dissect, first metaphorically, for the minutia and the landscape within. Richard spends time absorbing the life cycle of the flora before bringing these objects into the studio. The process of transforming the flowers in the studio begins with studying each of the parts of the plant matter that he collects. By deconstructing these objects and rearranging their parts, new objects are created: after physically dissecting or deconstructing the objects, Richard arranges their parts into tiny still lifes made up of multiple layers. These re-constructions become their own micro-landscapes, some looking like images taken from high altitude while others appear to be zoomed-in close-ups.
