Niza Knoll Gallery presents Works of Mark Friday and Pat Lickly

  • Niza Knoll Gallery 915 Santa Fe Dr Denver, CO, 80204 (map)

Since its inception, Niza Knoll Gallery has housed The Mix, a small co-op in the back of the gallery that presents a consistent array of delightful works as a bonus to the ever-changing main gallery exhibit. With the pandemic lingering, the 2021 exhibits will turn in-house, focusing on the diverse Mix artist who have paired up for a series of shows in the main gallery.

The community created by these artists has added a dynamic element to the gallery experience, and gallery owner Niza Knoll is proud to provide a wider platform to showcase them throughout the year.

The first of the series will feature Mark Friday’s quirky assemblage art with Pat Lickly’s clay and mixed media works.

The show runs April 6th through May 8th, 2021 with no opening event. The public is invited to visit the gallery at 915 Santa Fe Drive on Friday and Saturdays, 1-5 pm and Sunday, April 25, 1-3 pm for Sundays on Santa Fe, a pilot program to replace the Art of Brunch where participating galleries will be open on the last Sunday of the Month (starting March 28th). Visitors are encouraged to check the website for updates as hours may increase as public health and safety allows. Masks and social distancing are required.

Works may also be viewed and purchased online at www.nizaknollgallery.com.

Mark Friday: continued experiments with Structure and Space. Using a wide array of found materials combined with other media, Friday has produced sculptural structures that balance their internal spaces with their external surfaces. Friday fancies himself an alchemist, starting out with common broken and discarded elements, transforming them into new and special configurations.

Cultural Fusion by Pat Lickly World travel to distant lands has long been a creative spark for Lickly’s clay and mixed media art. This retrospective captures the spirit of far-away people and places. While each culture embraces its own unique language, religion, food and attire, we all live under the same sky and share the same hopes and dreams of our interwoven Human Family. Lickly recently transitioned from hand built, decorative ceramics into mixed media. Her style blends painting with other art forms often imbuing graphic symbolism that lends a sense of ethnic identity.
