A Pop-Up Show by The Artist Kelsie

  • The Garage at Bitfactory 851 Santa Fe Drive Denver, CO, 80204 United States (map)

Kelsie Young aka The Glitter Freckle aka The Artist Kelsie, burst onto the Denver’s art scene in the late 90’s expressing herself through painting, sculpture, and spiritual study. She was most well-known for her exquisite face and body painting, sharing her gifts everywhere from the club scene, fashion shows, and St. Patrick’s Day parades of Denver, to a national 22 city tour. She became a regular presence painting faces at The Wizard’s Chest for Halloween and the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, through the early 2000’s.

After a several-year hiatus from the public eye, The Artist Kelsie is re-emerging with an evolved sense of self, connection to her creative community, and vision for her current and future work. She is thrilled to share her new, multidimensional art at a one-night pop-up exhibit on First Friday October 4th, 2019 6-9 pm, in The Garage at Bitfactory, in the back of 851 Santa Fe Drive. Throughout the evening, visitors will be able to purchase art and merchandise and enjoy connective entertainment along with several, looped video tutorials showcasing the creative process in collaboration with Paul Peregrine and his team at Peregrine Studios in Denver.

In Kelsie’s new works she explores a range of paint combinations, techniques, and subject matter. "What I use to create a piece completely depends on the piece and its own voice in the creative process. Acrylic, oils, ink, enamel, and sometimes other stuff too. “My goal is that when your eyes meet a work, you will feel it.”

In addition to the pop-up show’s themed works, Kelsie will be exhibiting her piece “The Rescue”. Produced using her exclusive “paint-cutting” technique, this 48" x 64" mixed media on stretched canvas features a horse and rider in a surreal Colorado front range landscape. Her intention is to raise awareness of the Dumb Friend’s League (DFL) equestrian rescue program and she will be donating all of the funds from thesale of this artwork to the DFL. Founded in 1910, the Dumb Friends League, based in Denver, Colorado, is the largest independent, nonprofit community-based animal shelter/humane society in the Rocky Mountain region, caring annually for as many as 20,000 lost and relinquished pets, as well as hundreds of equines.

Kelsie Young (aka The Artist Kelsie) is a diverse multi-media artist that resides in Lakewood, Colorado. She creates mixed media fine art, body art, photography, and experimental performance art.
