The vibrant energy of summer was the inspiration of Lisa Calzavara’s new series. She incorporates both paintings and sculptures which are centered on movement to express the liveliness and exuberance of the sensations of summertime fun. Focusing on a memory like tasting a fresh juicy watermelon, or the invigorating jolt of lightening are used to initiate the direction for each piece within the series. This allowed her to capture the essence of that experience in a spontaneous format. By using the fluidity of liquid acrylics in the paintings, she is able to create vivid images within dynamic compositions. The sculptures also have a sense of momentum inherently created by the contours of the clay and resin silhouettes. Combing these art forms into one show, results in a very fun and energetic experience.
