Kristen Bole
Kristen Bole’s upbringing in Pennsylvania, near Lake Erie, has instilled in her a deep connection to nature, which greatly influences her artistic endeavors today. This connection serves as a profound reflection in Bole’s work, akin to a mirror. Water has always had a calming effect on her, as have the trees she climbed and sought solace in during her childhood. These experiences continue to inform and inspire Bole’s artistic expression.
Mary Holm
Throughout Mary Holm’s life, she has been drawn to abstract work and the many different possibilities to express, see and feel through art. Her painting is personal, and the mark making, colors, and shapes are at times freely expressive and at other times, more controlled and deliberate. Most of Holm’s work has many lives and iterations, and those layers and stories are integral to the final product.
Leslie Lefferdink
Leslie Lefferdink makes art in order to process her emotions and daily experiences, translating what’s inside onto paper. Lefferdink’s new works are collages built on a monotype base, layered with small pieces of paper and sometimes sprinkles of fabric. The act of assembling these fragments helps her slow down and make sense of her internal world. Lefferdink found herself craving more texture and dimension than in her earlier work. The pieces in this exhibition are more intricate and beautifully chaotic. They represent a meaningful evolution in her creative practice, and she’s excited about where this path is leading her.
Pam Roth O’Mara
Time and place motivate Pam Roth O’Mara. Time of day, time of year, position of the sun. She’s inspired by the motion of water, trees, and grasses. O’Mara uses color, texture, balance, and movement to reveal what she’s experiencing, remembering, imagining, and feeling. Painting is performance art, a dance of joy. She moves around the canvas and repositions it to see the work from different angles. Acrylics offer the textures and colors she prefers, and she often mixes colors on the canvas. O’Mara’s style and use of color varies with the inspiration. The pastel coloring of the rock formations at Paint Mines Interpretive Park influenced her choice of lighter colors for “Journey to Paint Mines.” Because she’s most inspired by grasses and trees and nature in general, her color selection is usually blues, greens, yellows, and occasionally reds. O’Mara also uses black, gold, and bleached titanium to emphasize different aspects of a painting.
