Denver's Art District on Santa Fe is thrilled to announce the opening reception of the class show for the Summer 2026 Emerging Artists Residency!

“In Another Realm: Explorations of experiences within the psyche" features resident artists Sarah Bouma, Blessing Guerra, and Rhae Schulz as they end their three month long residency with the Art District.

The human psyche—our mind, soul, and spirit—are shaped by memories, trauma, relationships, and all the ebbs and flows that push us through life each and every day. See how each resident artist chose to showcase their psyches and hear the stories behind their visual narratives.

This exhibition brings together two related bodies of work made during different times in the 21st-century, each focusing on the relationships between humanity, technology, and the sacred. The pieces are a compelling array of paintings, digital collage and assemblage works that explore both the connection and visceral tension amongst the subject matter.

“All the works are products of reflection on the integrated influence of the sacred and the technological in the human narrative.” Explains Luna, “They offer context for considering how these combined influences weave into the design of the 21st-century social tapestry.”

A Colorado native, Luna was born into a family of artists, art patrons and art enthusiasts. He freely developed as a self-taught artist from childhood through adolescence, synthesizing styles and techniques derived from popular media, art, and culture. Luna received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing at the University of Colorado and a Master of Fine Arts in painting at Colorado State University. Luna is an award-winning artist with an extensive history of public exhibition spanning over 30 years. In addition to his personal artistic accomplishments, Charles has facilitated the artistic growth of countless young people through his service as a visual arts educator in Colorado.

These three artists don't start with a finished image in mind. They start with a material, a mark, a response — and follow it. The work that emerges is both record and revelation: of what the hand discovered, what the medium allowed, what making itself made possible.

Future Archives is a multidisciplinary art project that invites interns to explore memory, identity, and creativity through analog artmaking. Working across collage, printmaking, and sculpture, participants transform personal experiences, family histories, observations, and collected materials into original works of art. Alongside these hands-on practices, they examine emerging technologies and reflect on how digital tools shape memory, creativity, resource use, authorship, and our everyday lives.

The culminating exhibition features individual and collaborative artworks that celebrate the creative possibilities of working with physical materials while inviting visitors to consider what is gained, altered, or lost as more of our lives move into digital spaces. Through making, experimentation, and conversation, Future Archives affirms the enduring value of human imagination, craftsmanship, and shared experience.

Sequesterings

Sequesterings challenges viewers to confront our world’s ecological crisis through the lens of radical transformation. With diverse works ranging from delicately stitched collages and colorful hand-woven textiles to large-scale sculptures, the artists in Sequesterings act as environmental stewards and aesthetic scavengers. They reclaim what society thoughtlessly discards, transforming obsolescence into opportunity.

The exhibition features work by Twyla Exner, Calder Kamin, Natalya Khorover, Blue McRight, Anna Mein, Kelsey Merreck Wagner, Pamela "Posey" Moulton, Portia Munson, Aurora Robson, and Ian Trask, whose individual art practices unite to present a global issue on an intimate scale, creating a vision of optimism within a harsh reality. Sequesterings was curated by Cecily Cullen and Aurora Robson. The exhibition will be on view August 6 – October 24, 2026 at Center for Visual Art, MSU Denver, 965 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, CO 80204.

The CHAC Members' Showcase celebrates the creativity and talent of our member artists. Each CHAC artist is unique in the mediums they use, their backgrounds, and the stories they tell through their artwork. As an open-themed exhibition, the Members' Showcase gives each artist the opportunity to exhibit work of their choosing, creating a diverse and engaging collection that reflects the individuality of every participating artist. This exhibition offers the community a wonderful opportunity to get to know our artists and experience the wide range of styles, subjects, and perspectives represented within CHAC Gallery.

Most of our artists are local to Denver, and many come from families with deep roots in the city and surrounding communities. The spirit of Denver and its people resonates within their work, offering visitors a meaningful connection to the culture, history, and experiences that continue to shape our community. Audiences will leave with a greater appreciation for the artists and the many qualities that make Denver feel like home.

CHAC Gallery & Cultural Center (CHAC Gallery) was founded in 1978 by a group of visual and performing artists. The organization was established as a place where Chicano/Latino artists were provided with a venue to explore visual and performance art and promote and preserve Chicano/Latino culture through the expression of the arts.

CHAC is an inclusive community of creatives that are dedicated to preserving, showcasing, educating, and reflecting the essence of Chicano/a/x, Latino/a/x and other multicultural/multiracial communities.

Wonders of Nature
Featuring artists Dan Bahn, Kirsten (Kat) Bole, and Rick Allen

Wonders of Nature presents the work of painters Daniel Bahn, Rick Allen, and Kirsten Bole, three artists whose distinct voices are inspired by the natural world. Through abstract and representational approaches, each explores nature's beauty, power, and ever-changing character—from sweeping landscapes and organic forms to the subtle interplay of light, color, and atmosphere. Together, their work offers three unique perspectives that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and experience the wonder of the world around us.

Artist on Santa Fe Gallery presents “A Stitch in Time,” an exhibition of fiber works by Terise Harrington Phillips, on view August 20 - September 14, 2026. Rich with contrasting textures, color, and form, the collection explores the quiet tension between rigid patterns and organic growth, revealing unexpected moments of beauty along the way.

The public is invited to an artist reception on Third Friday, August 21, 5–9 p.m., to stop in during the First Friday Art Walk on September 4, 5–9 p.m. or to explore the show during the adjusted gallery hours during construction on Santa Fe Drive. Until further the notice, the gallery will be open 3 days a week— Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.– 5 p.m, and Sunday Noon – 4 p.m., including First and Third Friday Art Walks. Parking is available in the surrounding neighborhood as well as in the lot to the South of the building, accessible from the alley.

Phillips begins her pieces with a strict pattern and a palette of hand-dyed fabrics that suggests a direction. From there, she uses thread and paint as tools for layering, embellishing, and transforming.

“I’m drawn to the delicate balance of contrasting textures, color, and form, where rigid patterns meet organic growth and unexpected beauty can appear,” says Phillips. “Through my art, I invite viewers to experience the beautiful tension and delicate balance that evolves with contrasting textures.”

Phillips is a Colorado artist with a passion for fabric and printmaking. She started working with fabric as a young girl, learning to sew with her mother, an accomplished seamstress and designer. While obtaining her degree in Fine Arts at Colorado State University, Phillips found new ways to create her own fabric by incorporating dying and printmaking techniques. She uses those in her art quilts interplaying stitching, paint and embroidery within her designs. Her unique work has been shown in numerous juried exhibitions, office buildings and galleries throughout the country.

Additional fine art by gallery members and resident artists, including paintings, ceramics, jewelry, mix media and sculpture, will also be on display.

SYNC Gallery is pleased to present Artistic Journeys, a new two-person exhibition featuring the work of painters Johanna Morrell and Elvi Bjorkquist.

This year's Artistic Journeys went in a different direction from last year, but the work still reaches for something that can't quite be said in words. Each piece holds a complicated feeling inside a symbol, something you understand not through logic or argument, but through a kind of immediate recognition, an intuition.

That's what non-discursive art does. It doesn't state facts. It gives shape to feelings and meanings that resist being spelled out. Abstract art builds an expressive symbol, and you grasp it in a flash of intuition rather than working it out step by step. A painting becomes a symbol of feeling. It makes an inner state visible, gives it a form you can actually see.

This comes from imagination, our ability to make images. People symbolize in all kinds of ways: through language, art, ethics, religion, philosophy, math. "Feeling" is just the word for that deeper layer of experience, what it's like to be a mind at work. All of it reaches outward, toward expression, toward symbols we can hold on to so that inner life becomes something shared.

We paint intuitively. We don't know where a piece is headed until we're in it. Layer by layer, until something in the image finally demands your attention. When we stop second-guessing and let the image come through, it feels alive, full of mystery, like it's trying to tell us something.

Bitfactory Gallery presents Chaos: An Exploration of Disorder, Meaning, and Possibility, a juried group exhibition on view August 21–September 12, 2026.

Chaos exists in many forms—personal and collective, destructive and generative, visible and unseen. It can emerge through a fractured system, an unsettled world, a difficult relationship, a crowded mind, or the moment when certainty gives way. The artists in Chaos were invited to consider what disorder means to them and whether chaos is something to escape, confront, embrace, or perhaps even something necessary for change.

Through literal, emotional, psychological, symbolic, and abstract approaches, the exhibition brings together varied perspectives on what happens when structures fracture, boundaries dissolve, and control becomes uncertain.

Grace Noel Art's Wood Burning Art Class guides you through creating wood burned drawings on x2 wooden slices of pine. Class will be held in Grace's studio in the Denver Art Society and all materials are included with admission price. Class creations will be available to take home the same day.

3. Your Personal Month Ahead Astrological Forecast: want to know what the star signs have in store for you a month ahead?

4. Partnership charts take two charts and make them one. This kind of birth chart is called a Synastry chart and it is always super magical!

What You receive from a Reading:

1. Recorded Google Meeting: Once you purchase, Grace will follow up with you via email and the reading will be completed Google Meet, so that Grace can record it and send you a copy of the recording.

Robin Gates
Robin paints whimsy – often edgy, characters, lines, and texture on wood panels, canvas, furniture, instruments, and other 3D objects. Her extraordinary layering is created with paper, paint, pencil, and charcoal. For this show, she is embracing the beauty found in disruption and her delightfully odd “heads” are much in evidence—existing in the space between order and chaos. Amanda Stavast
Amanda’s journey spans graphic design and mural work but her deepest passion lies in painting. Her abstract, experimental style is characterized by vibrant colors, captivating textures and found objects. Dimitri Valore
Dimitri comes from an artistic family. At Metropolitan State University he abandoned his cosmology major to earn a BFA in painting and spent two decades creating in Boston. A return to Colorado sparked a move from oil painting to discovering the mysteries of mixing ink and water. Dimitri’s early interest in cosmology finds an outlet in this new body of work --abstract interpretations of the unseen quantum fields that constitute the fabric of space. @dmitrivaloreart
