Create x2 wood burned drawings with Artist Grace Noel in her studio using wood burning tools

Grace Noel Art's Wood Burning Art Class guides you through creating wood burned drawings on x2 wooden slices of pine. Class will be held in Grace's studio in the Denver Art Society and all materials are included with admission price. Class creations will be available to take home the same day.

Come join me in the studio for a fun resin tray art class with genuine dried flowers!

Create with Grace continues with the Resin Tray with Flowers art class! For 2 hours, each student will create their own personalized tray (4"x7") using genuine dried flowers and epoxy resin. Join artist Grace Noel in her studio in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe at the Denver Art Society.

Kids ages 12-17 can also join the class but it’s not recommended for anyone younger than 12 years old.

What to expect

• Use a silicone mold to create an artsy 4"x7" tray that you can use in daily life

• Learn how to use Epoxy resin

• Add color, sparkle, and more using glitter, pigments, and more.

• Work with Artist Grace Noel in her studio for two hours

• All materials are provided for the class

• Your coaster set will take three days to dry and cure after we create it. You will need to come back to pick up your creation Grace's studio, or she can ship to you for an additional cost

Converging Visions

Converging Visions brings together three artists whose distinct materials and methods intersect around a shared exploration of relationships - between movement and structure, light and shadow, and the interplay of elements that create a whole. Though working across diverse media, their practices resonate in a visual dialogue, revealing how unity can emerge through differences.

Converging Visions invites viewers to move through shifting landscapes of material and meaning, discovering that unity is not uniformity, but a dynamic balance of differences held in relation.

Denise Bohart

Glass artist Denise Bohart explores how individual elements - shards, shapes, and lines - coalesce into a unified whole. Transparency and reflection underscore that wholeness is formed through relationships. As light moves through each piece, it activates the composition, allowing something greater to emerge from the interplay of its parts. Her work can be viewed at:

Laura Brenton

Contemporary painter Laura Brenton draws inspiration through movement. Layers of imagery overlap and dissolve, creating liminal spaces where forms hover between appearance and disappearance. Vicky Smith

Smith’s ceramic works invite quiet contemplation. Using form and surface, her pieces celebrate the allure of billowing, organic shapes that interact with light and shadow. Stacy Lewis

Stacy Lewis’ newest exhibition, colorJOY reflects a transformative journey from fear and grief back to hope and joy through the resilient act of painting, and the positive effects of color, nature, and play on the mind, body, and spirit. Through her luminous, textured abstract expressions using vibrant acrylic color and mixed media on canvas, viewers are invited to experience the vibrational power of color to uplift, inspire, and heal. colorJOY focuses on the experiential power of color to create positive shift towards joy in our individual and collective lives.

“This show serves as an antidote to the tumultuous change we’ve all experienced over the past five years. Inspired from personal events that took place in my own life during that time, it serves as a testament to the power of color to truly shift our state, personally and collectively, from feelings of grief, anxiety, and fear, to one of hope, peace, and optimism. colorJOY is a reminder that joy always lies within, not without.”

Each piece in colorJOY represents a foothold on Lewis’ journey back to joy through the practice of pure play, pushing boundaries, creative release, and acceptance. For the viewer, colorJOY is designed to be a fully immersive experience, bathing them in vibrantly-colored abstracts and landscapes, with the hope of creating small moments of uplifting ‘color-shifts physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and reminding them that within each of us lies the power of joy.

Niza Knoll Gallery is pleased to revisit its series of exhibitions in which members of gallerist Niza Knoll’s book club bring to life characters and scenes of a common book through visual art. This year’s presentation is, in fact, a mash-up of two titles, “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll and “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt, whose storylines are related only in the visual opportunities they present, and a group of creatives, who, when deciding between the two, chose not to limit their imagination and elected to do both!

The public is invited to view and purchase works during regular gallery hours, Thursday – Sunday, 1–4 p.m., during the run of the show, June 5 to July 12, 2026, and during the following special events:

Chandler’s interdisciplinary background in natural resources grounds her surrealist explorations in environmental stewardship, treating every “canvas” as a sacred space for collective care. The Art District on Santa Fe is thrilled to announce Art of Queerness, Queerness of Art, a Pride Pop-up Exhibition for the month of June! This exhibition is inspired by a long history of LGBTQ+ artists as revolutionaries and trailblazers—those who have changed the trajectories of countless art movements throughout history.

At the confluence of these traditions and our current political environment, this show invites artists to explore expression of Queerness as an art form, and to consider how creative practices in return often function as extensions and expressions of identity. In other words, we invite you to join us as we celebrate both the Art of Queerness, and the Queerness of Art.

No Se Paga, No Se Paga (Can't Pay, Won't Pay) written by Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo is a comical farce about two couples in a 70's Denver barrio struggling to buy groceries and pay rent. That is, until the housewives involve themselves in hijinks to keep their groceries hidden...in a pregnant panza.

No Se Paga, No Se Paga runs from June 11-28, 2026, with performances on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sunday the 28th at 2:00 PM. 

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $17 for students and seniors. The performance space is Su Teatro Cultural & Performing Arts Center, 721 Santa Fe Dr, Denver, CO 80204.

At first glance, David E. Clark’s oil paintings seem quite traditional —straightforward, realistic portraits and still lifes that exude an old-world feel. Upon further investigation, each composition features an erroneous element that pulls the viewer in to delight in an alternate storyline. Artists on Santa Fe Gallery is proud to feature “Menagerie II”, a selection of works by Clark that exemplify his recent evolution from photo-based, mixed-media work to his current abstracted realist oil paintings. The public is invited to view and purchase work during regular gallery hours, as listed below, and during the following special events:

Clark’s artistic journey began in the mid-1970s at Metropolitan State College (MSC). He explored drawing, representational painting and ceramics before returning to the University of Denver in 1990 to pursue an MFA, with an emphasis in printmaking and drawing. A 9-year gig as an adjunct instructor at MSC, had him teaching all levels of drawing, 2D design, and some art history while also exhibiting with Denver gallerist Bill Havu. After a 20-year break from art to focus on family obligations, he was excited to return to the studio, joining EDGE Gallery in 2023, where he recently concluded a 3-year stint as a member.

“As an ancient person (I’m 80), I feel fortunate to be able to paint, often employing lots of detail, without being hindered (yet!) by either cognitive decline or the shakes,” explained Clark. “I intend to continue violating the picture plane, sans apology, likely around figurative work, nature studies—both studio and plein-air. My self-portrait (2026) uses a mirror for reference. I think I might call it "dour old bastard.”

In addition to the scheduled exhibition, Artists on Santa Fe Gallery, 747 Santa Fe Drive, showcases the work of member artists ranging from sculptors and painters to printmakers and jewelers. The building is also home to the working studios of 25 + artists. Visitors are invited to explore and discover this exciting and enduring creative hub. Spring hours are Mondays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays, Noon to 4 p.m., or by appointment. D’art 360 is proud to host the exhibition “Between Rhythm and Shape” by member artistsCarol Bivins, Rachael LaMielle, Christine Morrow, and Marlene Polmear.

Between Rhythm and Shape brings together four artists whose abstract works move between repetition and structure, gesture and form. Patterns emerge, dissolve and reconfigure, while materials and marks establish their own internal tempo. Some works pulse with quiet accumulation, others with shifts in atmosphere or edge. Together, they occupy a space of transition, where rhythm becomes shape, and shape, in turn, suggests rhythm.

Carol Bivins
The body of work Carol Bivins chose for this exhibition was painted in the year after a traumatic death in her family and she found that painting these curving, wavy lines calmed her. The rhythm and repetition of the lines soothed Bivin’s grief and kept her working in the studio. By leaning into abstraction, she found she could relax and enjoy working with the pure properties of the paint. This work is about movement, color and value and constitutes a scenic migration of organic shape and pattern.

Bivin’s paintings always reflect the emotional space through which the creation of artwork is filtered, and the influences of the world around her that come into play and impact her work. Her goal is to make paintings that carry an edge and an intimacy, mystery and sensuality, and to create a sense of illusory spaces within them. Bivin’s wants the viewer to look and imagine at the same time.

Rachael LaMielle
Rachael LaMielle is a self-taught stippling and impressionistic painter. A small-town “mountain girl” at heart, after living in the mid-west and the San Francisco Bay Area, she proudly makes her home in the foothills of Colorado. LaMielle combines her love for this beautiful world, the outdoors, and organic textures with her vibrant use of color and meticulous mark-making with “dots” to create her artworks.

LaMielle had many inspirations for art and creativity in her family and life. She earned a B.S. in Business from the University of Colorado and a Master of Science in Information Systems from the University of San Francisco. After fifteen years in the corporate and higher education sectors as an HR and Information Systems specialist, she began to focus on her passion for creating impressionistic, detailed, month-spanning artworks in themes of nature, texture and the bold use of color. LaMielle’s artwork has been shown in a number of exhibitions in the Rocky Mountain Foothills (and once on a Jumbotron in Times Square).

Christine Morrow
Christine Morrow is an interdisciplinary artist who pushes the boundary between 2D and 3D creating innovative relief work. By integrating traditional and experimental materials, she designs dynamic compositions that balance texture, color, and form, producing visually engaging pieces that shift with changing light. Morrow’s practice centers on optical exploration, where physical structure and color interact to generate movement and depth. Each bespoke work is part of an evolving process of making and discovery, where material experimentation informs the work. Rooted in her parallel interests in art and science, Morrow’s work emphasizes perception, inviting viewers to engage from multiple perspectives. Through layered surfaces and responsive light, she creates immersive visual experiences that foster an ongoing dialogue between form, color, and light. With this blended set of expertise, Morrow translates scientific observations into creative expressions in a unique way, demonstrating how innovation can occur at the intersection of science and art.

Marlene Polmear
Marlene Polmear is inspired by nature and fueled by her passion to preserve it. Polmear finds that painting landscapes provides an opportunity and outlet to challenge her intellectually, visually, and emotionally. In her pursuit to capture the beauty and solace that scenery provides, Polmear is continually reminded of the resilience and adaptability that exists within nature and herself. She seeks to create a legacy of conservation and appreciation for the natural world.

Common Ground brings together two distinct artistic perspectives connected through landscape, memory, history, and transformation. Though working from different visual languages and experiences, Patricia Rucker and Dagmar Nickerson create a shared dialogue between past and future, personal memory and contemporary place.

​Patricia Rucker’s work reflects an ongoing engagement with the evolving landscape and community of Golden, Colorado. Through her visual exploration of environment, movement, and human presence, her work considers the future — how people inhabit, shape, and respond to the changing world around them.

In contrast, Dagmar Nickerson’s IGNIS looks backward through layers of family history, archival reconstruction, and migration. The mixed-media encaustic installation reconstructs fragments of her German family history through archival documents, historical research, memory, and image transfer. The exhibition traces the lives of ordinary people shaped by political upheaval, war, imprisonment, displacement, and immigration. Drawing from surviving records — apprenticeship papers, military documents, ration cards, immigration manifests, and family photographs — the work explores how identity becomes mediated through bureaucracy, borders, and systems of power.

Nickerson’s family entered the United States through the postwar Refugee Relief Act of 1953, legislation created in response to the massive displacement caused by World War II. Separate from ordinary immigration quotas, the Act allowed refugees, displaced persons, and individuals uprooted by war and political instability to enter the United States through extensive sponsorship and documentation processes. The exhibition reflects this long bureaucratic passage through immigration manifests, identification papers, affidavits, military records, ration cards, and sponsorship documents — revealing how survival itself often depended upon paperwork, approval, and official recognition across borders.

​Using layers of wax, burnt paper, transferred imagery, and embedded documents, Nickerson creates surfaces that function as both paintings and historical witnesses. Many scenes are reconstructed from archival evidence where photographs no longer exist, reflecting the gaps, silences, and erasures left by history.

While rooted in one family’s story, IGNIS speaks to broader contemporary questions surrounding migration, citizenship, nationalism, memory, and the fragile search for belonging. The work invites viewers to consider how large historical forces shape intimate human lives — and how memory persists through fragments.

Together, Common Ground creates a conversation across generations and perspectives — between history and contemporary life, rupture and renewal, displacement and belonging. Though approaching these themes differently, both artists ask viewers to reflect on what connects us across time, place, andshared human experience.

931 Gallery features a diverse collection of abstract and contemporary realistic work in this annual group show featuring Associate Members.

Organized in a group curation,you will find a variety of expressionist paintings, mixed media. Some sublime modernist and some informed by nature there is sure to be something for everyone. If you are drawn to the magical power of circles, the inspiration of a storm, urban and wild landscapes and unconscious perceptions, you will enjoy this diverse selection of impressionistic , realistic and abstract vocabularies.

Featuring: Gabrielle Shannon

There is tangible, recognizable connective tissue that flows through the work of Gabrielle Shannon. She is drawn to the organic structures and flow of nature. Where water meets land, where forces collide and expansion breathes beauty in stillness. These encounters reveal the quiet unity of living systems and the humbling scale of the universe we inhabit.

Shannon employs mixed water media on canvas, inks, acrylics, gouache, and watercolor in her paintings. Through her work she attempts to capture the dynamic energy that surrounds and fills us, constantly shifting and transforming, too small to understand and too vast to comprehend… recognizing that the patterns of change are the only constant we have.

The SPOT ON juried exhibition is a D’art Gallery tradition typically held in the summer. We ask artists to submit creative exciting art in all mediums except video and performance; with an emphasis on contemporary approaches coming to that spot on place, that sweet spot, where your vision comes together with your medium.

This year’s exhibition was juried by Jim Robischon, founder of Robischon Gallery in 1976 in Denver, CO. Robischon Gallery has been producing museum-level contemporary art exhibitions of regional, national, and international artists for 50 years. Embracing the current pluralism in art, the exhibitions and artists represented purposefully address a continuum of stylistic and contextual concerns, allowing for a diverse range of voices. The gallery has long been recognized for premiering important artists and exhibiting challenging forms of creative expression over the last five decades, as it continues to set bold new standards for contemporary art in the Mountain States region.

Create a one of a kind tumbler using epoxy resin and dried flowers on a stainless steel tumbler. Class will be held in Grace's studio in the Denver Art Society and all materials are included with admission price. Class creations will need to be picked up 1 day or more after class ends.

Astrologer and Artist Grace Noel has been practicing astrology for over two decades! You may know Grace's work from visiting her studio in Denver's Art District on Santa Fe or from taking a class with her.

How to sign up for a reading: choose the ticket for the time of day and date that works best for you *see descriptions below*. Eventbrite will notify Grace of your ticket purchase and she will email you for the information she needs to provide you with the reading you desire.

Your time slot can be used for your choice of reading:

1. Want to know more about your Natal Chart? This option is recommended if you are new to astrology and don't already know your natal chart. It's absolutely worth it to do this step first because all of the other readings will be more accurate and make better sense!

2. Solar Return Readings: Learn about your year ahead from birthday to birthday. Can also make a great birthday gift!

3. Your Personal Month Ahead Astrological Forecast: want to know what the star signs have in store for you a month ahead?

4. Partnership charts take two charts and make them one. This kind of birth chart is called a Synastry chart and it is always super magical!

5. Chinese Zodiac Reading: Take a dive into your natal chinese astrological signs with a custom chart Grace builds just for you!

What You receive from a Reading:

1. Recorded Google Meeting: Once you purchase, Grace will follow up with you via email and the reading will be completed Google Meet, so that Grace can record it and send you a copy of the recording.

2. Written report in with chart and interpretations.

4. All of these items will be shared with you via DropBox and please note that you will have 7 days to download the recording, chart, and report before Grace will delete them to free up space for other readings.

Learn the magical art of paint pouring with local Denver Artist Grace Noel in her art studio.

Let's play with paint pouring!! Create x2 paintings using paint pouring techniques: the dirty pour and the tree ring pour.

In this class we will:

• Learn two different techniques: the dirty pour and tree ring pour

• paint on x2, 6”x 8” canvases

• Leave the paintings with Grace so they can dry - take home boxes are provided if you wish to take them home same day.

• Pick up the painting when it’s dry. Paintings left for 30 days+ will be used to support future classes.

Since its inception seven years ago, D’art has been a vibrant hub for local artists, providing a dynamic space where creativity and innovation thrive. From seasoned veterans to emerging talents working in a variety of media, each creator brings a unique perspective and voice. In this commemorative showcase, we invite you to experience the collective vision of our four galleries and five studios.

D’art Gallery was established in shared building space seven years ago; five years later, the gallery took over the lease of the entire building, adding significant gallery space as well as creator space for local artists. As we reflect on the past seven years, we are filled with gratitude for our patrons’ support, our artists’ dedication, and the boundless creativity that has fueled our growth.

SYNC Gallery is pleased to present Thresholds, a new two-person exhibition featuring the work of painters Karin Kempe and Helene Strebel. The exhibition brings together two distinct abstract practices united by a shared belief in painting as an open, ongoing conversation, between artist and canvas, and between artwork and viewer.

Karin Kempe's paintings draw on the expansive horizons and luminous skies of the American West. Working in acrylic enriched with metallic leaf, Kempe distills lived experiences and dreamlike states into abstract landscapes where mountains, sky, water, and flowering forms emerge through color and space. "Each of these paintings offers you a threshold," Kempe says, "an invitation into an abstract space." The addition of metallic leaf creates an intrinsic glow that animates each surface, making the threshold, as Kempe describes it, one that "opens both ways and gives each painting its own voice."

Helene Strebel's abstract paintings are rooted in the conviction that art should be timeless and that each work creates an open platform for the viewer's own perception. Her paintings are part of an ongoing body of work that has been exhibited in galleries and art shows across the United States and Europe and can be found in private collections on both continents. Most recently, Strebel's work was featured at the Florence Biennale in Italy.

Together, Thresholds invites visitors to pause at the edge of the familiar and step into something felt rather than named.

Have you always wanted to play around with paint pouring but didn't have the space to? Join artist Grace Noel in her studio for a special paint pouring class that is inspired by the magic that you are! Artist Grace Noel is also an astrologer and will teach you how the four elements of fire, earth, wind, and water relate to your zodiac sign! Materials are included with ticket price!

In this class:

• Materials are included with Sign Up fee

• How to prepare a canvas and space for acrylic paint pouring

• Materials needed for acrylic paint pouring

• The signs of the western zodiac and how they relate to the Chinese Zodiac through the four elements of fire, earth, wind, and water.

• Take home box: Grace will provide boxes for the paintings to go home with each student. Students can choose to take home the same day or come back to pick up.

*Please note that paintings are messy and may be difficult to take home same day. Grace provides the option to leave your painting to dry in her studio.
